Review: 1969 Mustang Mach 1
As I took some of my old things out of self storage I came across some pictures of my first Mustang, the 1969 Mach 1. I really loved that car it was fast and stylish possibly the best designed mustang ever built, but that’s just my opinion. Here is a bit about this classic car.
The Mustang Mach 1 was produced by Ford Motors Corporation in 1969 with the younger and sports minded buyers in mind. This car is considered to be the best looking Mustang that Ford has ever produced considering the body, the lines and even the colors, which came at bright orange, lemon yellow, white, lime green, black and blue.
The Mach 1 competed very well with Pontiac and Chevrolet in 1969, with 6 models and 9 variations of the V-8’s. It had a fastback roof, a 351 Windsor motor, a 428 Cobra jet engine. One option that made the Mach 1 stand out is its “shaker hood”. The name came from the shaking of the hood when the engine is revved. The hood scoop also gave the car a tough look.
Other items that are included in the 1969 Mustang Mach 1 model are matte black hood, chrome wheels, hood pins, plus a spoiler. The interior of the car had teak wood grain details. Not to be left out is the high back sport bucket seats.
After that Mach 1 was put into a rigid test for speed and durability in 1969 and it broke all the 295 records of the US Auto Club.
